This dashboard is web-based and developed from mostly open source webserver, database and scripting packages. At the heart of the system is a robust data logging hardware package from Obvius (www.obvius.com). The backend flash graphics package was procured from AnyChart.
During the development of this dashboard, we used an open source Apache webserver. Other open source components include the database (MySQL community version) and scripting (php). As part of Hawaiian Electric Company’s (HECO) research and development project with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), HECO chose to develop this dashboard “from scratch” to learn the software requirements needed for such an application. Most commercial packages available today are proprietary.
The dashboard is a complement to the sustainable and renewable energy concepts that went into the design of the YET. It can be used as a means to measure and verify the performance of the rooftop photovoltaic system.
